From Promise to Legacy: A Journey Continued

Mr. Vinay Galetiya, President – Vasundhari Society for Social Action

Every leader has a story. But some stories begin in unexpected moments—moments that change not just a person, but an entire community. For Mr. Vinay Galetiya, renowned Indian cricketer, that moment came during the peak of the COVID-19 crisis. Vasundhari Society for Social Action was struggling, unsure how to keep its projects alive. It was during this fragile time that he met Late Vimla Kaul, the heart and soul behind Project Guldasta.

What started as a simple conversation soon turned into something deeply emotional. Vimla ji spoke about the children she had nurtured for years. Her eyes welled up when she said, “I have no children of my own… but the children of Guldasta are all my children by heart. Vinay, you are like a son to me. I want you to carry forward my legacy.”

In that moment, something shifted inside him. The pain in her voice, the love she held for those children, and the fear of leaving her life’s work unfinished touched him profoundly. And so, he made a promise—quiet, genuine, and from the depths of his heart: “I will take care of Guldasta, and I will carry your dream forward.”

That promise became his purpose. Even with a demanding sports career and personal challenges, Mr. Vinay stayed by the team when they needed support the most. He stepped in not as a President first, but as a guardian of a promise—someone determined to bring stability when everything felt uncertain.

Under his steady guidance, VSSA found its rhythm again. Teams felt supported… Projects regained direction….and slowly, the organisation began to breathe freely once more.

What started as a small initiative is now a warm, ever-expanding family. People from diverse backgrounds—professionals, students, homemakers, and community leaders—are joining hands to support these young lives. Together, they continue to strengthen Vimalji’s vision and Mr. Vinay’s promise.

Today, because of his commitment, more than 90 children across three projects are growing, learning, laughing, and dreaming again. For him, it’s not just social work—it’s a continuation of a bond formed with Vimalji, and a responsibility he carries with pride and sincerity.

Every child who walks into Guldasta carries a part of that promise. Every success story is a tribute to a legacy shared between two people who believed in compassion above everything else. Mr. Vinay’s journey is a reminder that sometimes leadership doesn’t come from titles—it comes from the heart.
